Why We Need Your Continued Support
While securing the land is a crucial step, the journey to building a new shelter is far from over. We now face the challenging task of constructing a facility that addresses the pressing issues we currently face. Here are the reasons why this new shelter is necessary:
Winter Snow: Heavy snowfall and blizzards often bury our current shelter, making access impossible and leaving dogs trapped in their kennels.
Harsh Weather: Snowstorms and spring floods cause significant damage to our existing facilities, affecting the well-being of the animals.
Power Outages: Reliance on photovoltaic panels leads to frequent power outages, disrupting our daily operations and the care of the animals.
Lack of Facilities: The absence of running water and sewage facilities remains one of our biggest obstacles, making it difficult to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
Living Conditions: Despite our best maintenance efforts, the living conditions for the animals have become increasingly uncomfortable. We urgently need more indoor space for older dogs to keep warm during extreme cold.
Our Vision for the New Shelter
The new shelter will be designed to address these challenges and provide a much better environment for our animals and the community. Our goals for the new shelter include:
Interior sleeping area
Outdoor play area
Heated kennels
Cement floor with drainage/gutters for cleaning
Elevated dog beds with a patented, chew-proof design
Bigger veterinary clinic closer to the community
A larger storage area for establishing a Food Bank for Animals and a Hub for Emergencies
