A home visit may be required before the adoption of any animal. Sava's Safe Haven is a legal shelter?Yes, Sava’s Safe Haven is a legal shelter. It is a non-governmental, non-profit Animal Welfare association in Romania founded in 2012 by Oana Sava and her family. The shelter's charity number its 32908365 and its fully checked and authorised by Veterinary Office in Romania.

Are Sava's dogs healthy?Yes, all animals in Sava’s Safe Haven are healthy, fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. The shelter has a veterinary clinic that was developed in 2015 to help the shelter animals access veterinary care including treatments and surgeries without them facing the additional stress of a 30km journey. The clinic is equipped with a surgical table, instruments for easy surgeries such as spay/neutering, and test kits for rescued animals to check for Parvovirus, distemper, health worms and other diseases prior to entry to the kennel

Who are people behind Sava's Safe Haven?Sava’s Safe Haven is a non-governmental, non-profit Animal Welfare association in Romania founded in 2012 by Oana Sava and her family, in order to help end the suffering of dozens of animals from the streets. The shelter is located in a small village 30km from Galati City and has been built through donations without any support from authorities or local companies. The team at Sava’s Safe Haven includes Oana Sava, Gabriel, Adrian, and Alexandra. They also have an adoption team and a fundraising group in the UK, as well as a German Friends association.

Can I visit Sava's Safe Haven?Yes, you can visit Sava’s Safe Haven. But you need to contact us and book a visit even for a day tour or a week of volunteering program. Either way, you will be welcome to come to us! Closer airport are Otopeni in Bucharest. You can also take a virtual tour of the shelter on our website.

How to donate?Sava's Safe Haven is a non-govermental, non-profit Animal Welfare association. The association is running through donations from our supporters and friends from abroad. Sava's Safe Haven do International Adoptions?Yes, Sava’s Safe Haven rehomes dogs in several European countries, including the UK. Every year, Sava’s Safe Haven can see up to 100 dogs rehomed throughout Europe.

How many animals are in shelter?Sava’s Safe Haven provides a home to over 250 animals. We have rescued over 1000 animals and re-homed them in good homes locally and internationally in 11 years (2012-2023).
