Leave a Legacy

Sava’s Safe Haven relies solely on the generosity of its supporters to continue its work in rescuing and rehoming homeless animals.

It may surprise you to know that most of people in the UK do not make a will – estimates vary but it is thought only 3 in 10 people prepare a valid will. Unfortunately, this means that most of us have no control over what happens to our assets when we die. In the UK, if we have no surviving family and die without a will, our assets may be taken by the government to use as it sees fits.

Writing a will gives peace of mind that your wishes will be followed - from your funeral arrangements to the care of your animal companions. Of course, it also makes life easier for the loved ones you leave behind, avoiding disputes over the distribution of your assets.

Many animal lovers wonder how they can ensure the long-term security and continued good works of the causes they support and how they can help their preferred charities to continue helping animals well into the future.

A gift in your will, no matter how small, could make all the difference to our rescue work. After considering loved ones, please consider whether a gift in your will could help us to rescue and re-home many more animals in the years ahead.

The most important things you need to know about your legacy:

You can decide to allocate only part of your assets to our animal shelter;

  • The value of the inheritance must be determined after the part to be allocated to loved ones has been decided, taking into account the "legitimate share" provided by law;
  • Inheritance in favor of a non-profit organization is not an exclusive practice of those who own large assets. A few thousand euros can make a difference for the projects of our animal shelter;
  • You will also be able to decide to donate movable property (artwork, jewelry, furniture) and real estate (apartments, land);
  • Securities, stocks, postal bonds, investment funds and even own funds can also be inherited;
  • The inheritance guarantees to the testator that you will is respected and that the goods are assigned as you indicates.
